modern accommodation, excellent location, amazing breakfast
I travel for business, with long days out in the city. This was my first time to Bangkok and how lucky I was to have selected this hotel.
I arrived at the hotel close to midnight after many hours of flying. I was delighted to enter #1507 at the back left corner of the building. This "corner" is the best as it offers sweeping views with no nearby buildings.
I selected a hot rate on the smallest unit offered. The accommodation is a mini apartment, with modern furnishings. Walk in the door, kick off shoes in the corner and standing in the "kitchen" with access to the lavish bathroom. Walk through a doorway (without a door) and you are in the bedroom which has a nice little love seat and coffee table, a long built-in desk along the wall with a flat screen tv and plenty of room to work and spread out papers. The modern mesh chair was the best as I usually work for 4-5 hours at night/ early morning. I don't recall what time breakfast started, but it was what I looked forward to every morning. The buffet had ALL the breakfast items any western or asian traveller could want, as well as samples of lunch or dinner type entrees which changed everyday. An espresso maker delivered the tastiest coffee of my trip. Unbelievable! The hotel offers a free tuk tuk to and from the sky train stop despite just being a five minute walk. I only used this a few times in the afternoon for a ride to the metro station, and upon departure with my luggage. The location of the hotel offers access to two different sky train stops, or is a nice walk through the park to the underground. I used the airport train to skytrain combo both arriving and departing - was fast and economical- believe me, the roadway traffic looked insanely slow at all hours of the day, so no taxi experience.
Between the skytrain stop and hotel, there is an organic market and hot food locale, where I shopped multiple times. Across the street, ask the on-duty guards for the location of the food market. They have all the foreign brands of goods. This "roadway" is also the route to the other skytrain stop. This market also had a pharmacist at the front who provided me with antibiotics for a suspected stomach bacteria. I asked for something to stop the "runs", but he said I need something to get to the problem. I felt better within hours and the cost was less than a few dollars - had to buy a five day course though told to only use for 2-3 days, which I confirmed with my MD back in the states upon return. The cause - I believe to be a smoothie at a reputable bakery cafe - the ice - I was very careful the whole trip, and that was the only link I could associate, so be careful with iced drinks - freezing does not kill bacteria! The hotel was all very clean, but again, I used bottled water to brush my teeth and rinse after soaping utensils.
I walked everywhere and really enjoyed my time, very much due to my great accommodation - to help revive my spirits and energy despite the hot and sweaty days out and about. Enjoy!
